CDC Quarantine Guideline Change
December 9, 2020: CDC COVID Quarantine Guideline Change
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced a change in the guidance for quarantined individuals. Changes include the following measures when someone is in “close contact” with a person with a positive diagnosis.
- Quarantined individuals exhibiting no symptoms will only be required to stay at home for 10 days.
- Quarantined individuals exhibiting no symptoms may return to school after 7 days with a negative test result. The test must be administered at least 5 days after the last “close contact”.
If individuals return to school from these shorter stay-at-home windows, they should continue to be regularly monitored for symptoms to ensure they remain symptom-free and take appropriate precautions.
