Anna High School Beta Club

The Anna High School Beta Club attended the regional Beta Leadership Summit. Students attend sessions to better understand who they are as students and how they can grow as leaders. In addition to attending these amazing sessions, students participated in various challenges that showcase their communication and collaboration skills.

Their results are as follows:

Lead Outside the Box:

Teams are given a real-world problem and must give a two-minute presentation of how they solved the given problem followed by a question/answer segment.

This year, our students were asked to come up with a solution to the academic decline and mental health issues following Covid-19. Their passion for a solution was complimented by several members of the judging panel. A huge thank you to our AHS counseling staff for already building such amazing programs for our students- Our team took several ideas that were already in play at AHS for their presentation.

They received an invitation to compete at the National level this summer in Nashville, TN.

Collaboration Connection:

Teams engage in quick, creative, and critical thinking challenges. Team members must think on their feet by applying collaborative leadership skills to produce a response in a certain time frame. The challenge is a combination of performance-based and task-based problem-solving.

This year, our team was required to work together to construct a miniature catapult to launch items into the goal area. They were not aware of their task walking into the room and simply had to think on their feet to create a solution for the task provided. They were praised by the judging panel for their teamwork and ability to include all member's strengths within such a short period of time.

Project Proposal:

Teams will identify, design, and carry out a service project that addresses at least one real community need. Clubs will showcase the community's need and highlight the creative service project in expo format.

This year, our team worked together to create a presentation creating No-Sew Blankets to be donated to the Sarmatian Inn in Mckinney with letters of hope and encouragement. The team had to outline each step of their plan within their presentation.
