Summer Day Camp

The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. School Age Services provides on-site After School Enrichment programs in 12 schools districts, private and charter schools for a total of 64 schools, serving 6 counties. Our territory spans a 100-mile radius from Celina/Anna/Frisco to as far south as Midlothian & Wax. We have a team of 24 full-time staff and about 250 part-time staff that served an average daily attendance of 2,500 children.

Our after-school program aims to develop the whole child; which is why each week children participate in activities designed to promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body. Our highly trained staff start with welcoming kids at check-in with a healthy snack and relationship building Huddle Time. Next, kids get to participate in engaging physical activity through the award-winning CATCH program. We then offer structured time for homework and independent or shared reading.

Our Ask Y? Enrichment Curriculum allows kids to discover, through engaging hands-on activities, the “why’s and how's” of our world and discover their passion. Ask Y? Enrichment Curriculum fosters critical thinking through activities such as STEM, games, arts & crafts, health & wellness, cultural exploration, and career discovery. Our program day wraps up with youth choice activities that kids love!

Our staff promotes a positive character through relationships, belonging, and recognizing achievement. We practice Love & Logic ® and recognize students with positive interaction, PROPS, awards, and encouragement! After school programming is delivered with a focus on our Y Core Values: Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility.

One of the most significant factors in determining the quality of programming is staffing. Choosing the right staff and training them is critical to program delivery and quality. We have a FT Curriculum Director and FT Training Specialist that design our training ladders and curriculum. All our staff is trained in CPR & First Aid and attend new staff orientation, multiple hours of Pre-Training in Child Care, Child Abuse Prevention, and even shadow experienced staff at our various training sites 2-4 days prior to reporting to their assigned school.

Program Directors and Senior Program Directors complete regular site observations to ensure the quality of our programming and staff. Principal Meetings are scheduled twice per year where we both gather feedback and share the success of our programs while building the relationships on site with the campuses.
