Read Across Anna: Anna ISD Celebrates Literacy with Community Engagement

Anna ISD's District Librarian, Greta Adams, spearheaded a beloved annual event, Read Across Anna, inspired by the nationwide Read Across America initiative. During the first week of March, approximately 30 community members, including firefighters, school board members, and district faculty, dedicated their time to reading in every classroom across all four elementary schools in Anna.

Mrs. Adams expressed her enthusiasm: "I am thrilled to lead Read Across Anna. This event celebrates literacy and community, where we unite to ignite a passion for reading in every elementary student. It's an honor to coordinate an event that fosters such joy and excitement for learning."

Anna ISD Deputy Superintendent Jay Underwood echoed Mrs. Adams' sentiment, stating, "I look forward to this event every year. As a guest reader, I am reminded of the importance of instilling a love for reading in our students. The interaction with students in elementary allows me to witness first-hand what a wonderful job our students and teachers are doing and the progress that is being made in the learning process. I'm grateful to Mrs. Adams for her dedication in coordinating this event and choosing the perfect selection of books for each class."

This event promotes the joy of reading and fosters community engagement within Anna ISD. Volunteers from the community generously give their time to participate in this initiative, contributing to the educational enrichment of students across the district. Anna ISD extends a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who dedicated their time to make Read Across Anna a success. Their commitment to promoting literacy and fostering a love of reading is invaluable to the students of Anna ISD.
