Meet Mr. Tucker- Anna ISD Superintendent
Toby Tucker has 26 years of education experience, including being the most recent superintendent of New Home ISD, which is one of the fastest-growing school districts in West Texas. During Tucker's time in New Home, he oversaw various projects, including completing a new elementary school and multiple security upgrades, while managing the district's unprecedented growth.
Before his time in New Home Tucker, he spent six years at Canyon ISD, serving as athletic director. Tucker's programs claimed 19 State Championships during his tenure and a Lone Star Cup, which recognizes the best overall program in Texas. Tucker was instrumental in creating and constructing a 3rd high school and 3rd junior high for Canyon ISD, as well as upgrading and renovating multiple facilities.
Anna ISD is Tucker's third Superintendent stint, as he was the Superintendent in Claude from 2009 to 2012. During his career, Tucker has served in various leadership capacities, sat on multiple boards, and garnered various honors:
-Twice testified to the Texas Senate Education Committee
-Served on the Texas Tech Health Science Center Advisory Board
-Served as TASA Study Group Chair and Vice Chair
-Served on the TASA Technology Committee
-Served as the TASSP State Technology Chair
-Served as the Equity Center Deputy Director
-Served on the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
-Elected to the THSADA Board of Directors
-Elected Vice President of the Amarillo Executive Association
-Selected as District Football Coach of the Year
Tucker has been married to his wife Stephanie for 23 years, who currently serves as Canyon's Economic Development Director. They have three children. Kaitlyn is a Senior at the University of Arkansas, Caden is a Freshman at Texas Tech University, and Colt, a sophomore in high school, will attend Anna later this spring.
