Clemons Creek Middle School Hosts Amazing Shake Final

Clemons Creek Middle School (CCMS) recently hosted the Final Round of The Amazing Shake, a competition designed to equip students with professional skills such as confidence, communication, and poise under pressure. The event culminated in a three-round competition in which every CCMS student participated in the first round, gradually narrowing to the top 16 finalists, two representatives from each of the school's eight houses.

Throughout the competition, students practiced and demonstrated essential life skills, including handshakes, introductions, and conversational etiquette. The final round brought in 16 community members to serve as judges, creating a real-world setting where students had to "work the room," holding one-minute conversations with each judge before moving to the next. Judges scored students on charisma, eye contact, and the ability to think quickly in conversation.

Among the judges was Paula McMillion, Anna ISD Executive Director of Student Services, who shared her admiration for the students' performance:

"I was truly impressed by our students' confidence, maturity, and ability to think on their feet. They demonstrated skills that will serve them well far beyond the classroom."

The competition tested students' skills and highlighted the purpose of CCMS's House System, which is to foster belonging, teamwork, and character through friendly competition and shared traditions. These experiences extend learning beyond academics and prepare students for future success.

The Givers House took the overall House win thanks to stellar performances by Gabriel Smith and Ariana Ugalde, securing 500 points for their team.

  • 1st Place: Givers House

  • 3rd Place: Kindness House

In addition to house points, Rylie was recognized as the top individual performer in the school.

Principal and staff emphasized that competitions like The Amazing Shake embody the school's mission: creating a connected, compassionate community where students grow academically, socially, and personally.
