Anna ISD Libraries: A Valuable Resource

Anna ISD Libraries: A Valuable Resource

Anna ISD libraries are an invaluable resource for Anna's teachers and students. They offer a wide range of services that enrich the learning experience.

JKB's book fair was a huge success, reaching its $10,000 goal and selling more than 1,250 books, providing new materials for the library and student use. The middle school libraries also hosted clubs across all campuses, with more than 250 students participating in Anime Club, Coloring Club, and Book Club.

Since the first day of school in August, more than 16,578 books have been checked out district-wide, showing the high demand for reading and research materials. In addition, the library (with help from the instructional coordinators) played a crucial role in supporting teachers by unpacking and distributing new science curricula. The start of school is a bustling time in the library, and we look forward to that continuing throughout the school year.

In addition, the district librarian, Ellen Peeples, has begun to meet with teachers to co-plan lessons that integrate research skills and technology, offering students opportunities to engage in meaningful, inquiry-based learning. The library's digital resources are available 24/7, giving teachers easy access to academic databases, eBooks, and online tools to support instruction. Mrs. Peeples is also available to help teachers curate customized reading lists and resources for their classes.
