Anna ISD Celebrates First-Year Teachers with Final Classroom Foundations Academy Meeting
Anna ISD honored its first-year teachers with a special celebration marking the completion of the Classroom Foundations Academy—a yearlong program designed to support, mentor, and guide new educators as they navigate their first year in the district.
The event served as the final meeting of the academy, bringing together first-year teachers, district leaders, and mentors for a moment of reflection and celebration. A highlight of the gathering was a visit from Anna ISD's newly hired superintendent, Mr. Toby Tucker, who congratulated the teachers on their hard work and dedication. He shared words of encouragement, reinforcing the district's commitment to supporting educators at every stage of their careers.
The Classroom Foundations Academy is a cornerstone of Anna ISD’s First-Year Teacher Support Program, which provides structured mentoring, professional development, and personalized guidance throughout the year. From monthly cohort meetings to classroom observations and instructional coaching, the program is designed to ensure that every new teacher has the tools and support they need to be successful.
Mindi Vandagriff, Coordinator of Professional & Digital Learning and mentor to each first-year teacher, expressed her pride in the group’s growth and achievements.
"Watching these teachers develop confidence, build strong relationships with their students, and find their rhythm in the classroom has been incredible. The first year of teaching is one of the hardest, but also one of the most rewarding. We want our new teachers to know that they are valued, supported, and truly making a difference in the lives of their students."
Anna ISD is committed to ensuring that all educators feel empowered and equipped to thrive in their roles. As these first-year teachers wrap up their inaugural year, the district celebrates not just their accomplishments, but also the bright futures ahead in Anna ISD classrooms.
