AHS Students are Exploring Clean Water Impact Through 3D Design
The Anna High School English Language Development and Acquisition students have been working on a special project in the MakerSpace.
As part of their current unit, "Clean Water for the World," they have been exploring the essential question: What impact can clean water have on the world? They researched the percentage of the global population with access to clean water, as well as the health effects of waterborne illnesses caused by lack of clean water. Kerry Prasifka, AHS English teacher, says that this topic has sparked meaningful discussions and has given her students an opportunity to practice new vocabulary and phrases in an organic, real-world context.
To deepen their understanding and engage with the content in a hands-on way, students have spent multiple days in the MakerSpace working with Mr. Elizondo, learning to design and 3D print models of waterfalls. Ms. Prasifka says, "This project not only ties directly to the theme of their unit but also gives students the chance to apply newly acquired vocabulary in a creative and practical setting, further reinforcing the key concepts."
