After years without a campus-wide competition, Anna Elementary Schools proudly brought back the Spelling Bee tradition. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade were given the opportunity to participate, beginning with grade-level bees that showcased their hard work, determination, and spelling skills. From these initial rounds, the top 10 students in each grade advanced to the campus-level competitions.

Rosamond Sherley, Joe K. Bryant, and L. Dow Hendricks Elementary Schools held their campus spelling bees on Thursday, November 13. The excitement continued the following week on Wednesday, November 19, when Judith L. Harlow and Sue Evelyn Rattan Elementary Schools hosted their own competitions. Each event highlighted the impressive talent and confidence of the students as they spelled their way through increasingly challenging words.

The top three students from each campus will now move on to the district-level Spelling Bee, scheduled for December 11 at 9:00 a.m. at the Administration Building. These outstanding spellers will represent their schools as they compete for the chance to advance even further.

Looking ahead, the district winners will go on to represent Anna ISD at the county-level Spelling Bee on February 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Plano Senior High School in Plano, Texas. We are excited to cheer on our young scholars and see who will emerge victorious at the next level. This year’s return of the Spelling Bee has already proven to be an inspiring celebration of student achievement, perseverance, and academic excellence.
