Coyotes Choose Character

Coyotes Choose Character

At Clemons Creek Middle School, the Coyotes are learning that character counts—and now, it earns points too.

This year, our campus has launched PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) as a way to recognize and celebrate the behaviors that make our school community stronger. Instead of focusing only on academics, teachers are intentionally rewarding students for demonstrating genuine character traits like perseverance, respect, integrity, discipline, empathy, spirit, and growth.

When a student pushes through a tough assignment, shows kindness to a classmate, stays focused despite distractions, or brings positive energy to the classroom, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Teachers award PBIS points on the spot, reinforcing the idea that how we show up every day truly matters.

Those points add up. Students can redeem them in their teacher’s classroom stores or at the campus store, where rewards range from school lanyards and snacks to even bigger-ticket items like headphones. But beyond the prizes, something even more meaningful is happening.

PBIS is helping build a culture where doing the right thing is recognized, celebrated, and contagious. Our Coyotes are learning that glory doesn’t just come from big wins—it comes from grit, growth, and good character shown day after day.

At CCMS, we’re proud to see our students earning more than points. They’re earning pride in who they are becoming.
