Calling the Shots

Calling the Shots

Yearbook students take photos. That is for certain. But behind that lens, there's a lot more these students cover and some pretty high expectations for them to meet. Yearbook students spend the first two months of the school year purely focusing on skills - photography, interview, writing, graphic design, marketing, and editing. But they can't ignore the events that occur during that time. Yearbook is one of the only classes that students must start working and producing from day one.
"Our goal is to document the entire school year, from the first day of school up to our last deadline and capture every student - all 750 - three times each!" says Mrs. Dooley. "It's a daunting task and I cultivate a solid team every year that I entrust with it."
This year, CCMS yearbook (nicknamed The Howl) has also expanded their skills on social media platforms.
"It's a lot of fun to connect with everyone on the campus. We make videos to celebrate or get excited about all the amazing things we do on campus," says Aaya Al Iedani.

By creating a connection with our community, the Howl staff is able to not only market yearbooks but also celebrate the hard work students and teachers put in each day. Our campus theme of "Glory through Grit" has translated into Player of the Week posts, videos of band performances, and students singing their way through the halls.
The culmination of Yearbook students' efforts is coming soon - an 80-page publication full of pictures, stories, interviews, and surveys of students and staff from this year. Titled "The Pack's Playbook," this year's book will bring together all the efforts and victories that made each season memorable. The last chance to guarantee a copy ends this Friday, January 30.
