Teamwork in Action: 5th Graders Explore Poetry Elements

Our 5th-grade students put collaboration into practice as they dove into their HMH focal text, working in small groups to identify poetic elements woven throughout the reading. From spotting similes and metaphors to recognizing rhyme and rhythm, students combined close reading skills with creative discussion. Their teamwork not only deepened their understanding of poetry, but also strengthened their ability to analyze text collaboratively—an essential skill for lifelong learning.
