Lighting the Way: Anna High School Welcomes Newest National Honor Society Members

The soft glow of candlelight filled the Anna High School auditorium on the evening of April 1, 2026, marking a significant milestone for 30 outstanding students. Family, friends, and faculty gathered to witness the official induction ceremony of the newest members of the National Honor Society (NHS), a prestigious recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

While the date coincided with April Fools' Day, the atmosphere was anything but lighthearted. The ceremony represented years of academic rigor and community dedication. Under the guidance of NHS adviser Ms. Christine Wood, the evening was orchestrated by the students themselves, showcasing the very leadership the organization celebrates.

Brylie Pearce, President of the NHS, presided over the ceremony with poise. Supported by fellow members, including Chloe Payne, who serves as the chapter's Secretary, Pearce led the traditional induction rituals. The highlight of the evening was the symbolic lighting of the candles, representing the four pillars of the society.

"These students haven't just earned high grades; they’ve proven they are leaders in our halls and servants in our community," Pearce remarked during the proceedings.

The induction saw a diverse group of achievers across three grade levels:

  • The Sophomore Class led the charge with a large cohort, including Jacob Ashley, Avery Clark, Kaitlyn Garnica, Justice Graves, Kia Gordon, Muhammad Ayaan Hussain, Teniola Ige, Payton Karsner, Briana Lopez, Natalye Lopez, Laylah Navaroo-Pleng, Hayden Christine-Marie Norton, Grady Orellana, Lindsey Parra, Jason Pickrel, and Kyan Smith.
  • The Junior Class additions featured Zelie Castel, Nirelle Guy, Kylie Johnston, Kyla Johnson, Moises Miranda, Stacy Nasies, Anusha Pathak, Emma Tollefson, Titus Amosa Toves, and Rehoboth S. Vanarkadi.
  • The Senior Class saw three of its own take the pledge: Lluvia Aguirre, Daniella Perez, and Reagan Wright.

As each name was called, the inductees stepped forward to take the NHS pledge, committing themselves to upholding the society's high standards. For these 30 students, the ceremony was not just a conclusion of their hard work, but a formal beginning to their roles as ambassadors of Anna High School.

The evening concluded with a reception, where the new inductees celebrated their achievement, ready to carry the torch of excellence into the remainder of the school year and beyond.
