Local Firefighter Inspires High School Students with Visit
A local hero stepped into the classroom this week, trading his firetruck for a chalkboard and a day of inspiring young minds. Chief Thomas spent the afternoon with students in the PACE Program, offering a behind-the-scenes look at his life on the frontlines of firefighting and sharing insights on becoming a firefighter.
Students listened in awe as Chief Thomas described the intense training firefighters undergo, as well as the mental and physical challenges they face in the field. At the end of his visit, Chief Thomas answered questions about the physical demands, teamwork, and emotional resilience needed to be a firefighter.
The day ended with a loud round of applause and thank-yous from the students, grateful for the chance to learn from someone on the front lines of keeping their community safe. For the students in the PACE Program, it was a lesson they’ll carry with them for years to come.
