The Special Services Department
The Special Services Department includes Special Education, Section 504, Dyslexia Services, Homebound Services, Response to Intervention (RtI), Homeless/Foster Services, and Pregnancy Related Services.
The Special Services Department is committed to providing students with special needs with access to individualized programs that have been designed to meet each child’s unique educational needs. We strive to serve students, support campuses, and collaborate with families as they navigate the many stages of education. Special Services is committed to preparing all learners for further education, employment, and independent living following the completion of their public school careers. The Special Services staff is also dedicated to creating learning environments that are conducive to high-quality instruction and positive behavioral supports, while also valuing the importance of building strong relationships.
Jacob Fischer has worked in Anna ISD as the Director of Special Services since April 2020. He previously served in leadership roles in other Texas public school districts. His background also includes work as a special education teacher, educational diagnostician, and district special education administrator. Jacob received his Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Northern Arizona University and his Master of Education in Special Education from the University of North Texas. Jacob is currently earning his PhD in Educational Leadership Policy from Texas Tech University. Jacob lives in North Texas with his wife and two daughters. He believes the primary purpose of the Special Services Department is to serve students with special needs, support and collaborate with campus staff and parents, and pursue the goals of the district.
