Cell phones are not allowed to be visible or audible in the building at any time. In addition, cell phones must be powered off in the building at all times.

Headphones/earbuds are not permitted in the building at any time.

Students are prohibited from using a cell phone or other electronic devices during instructional time (between 8:15 am and 4:00 pm). The term “electronic device” includes, but is not limited to, cell phones,  gaming devices, tablets, and computers. The student is required to forfeit the device upon request; failure to do so will result in placement in ISS or DAEP.

Disciplinary Actions for Electronic Device Violations are:

    • 1st offense: (Cell phone) Pick up in the office at the end of the day with documented warning. (Headphones/Earbuds) Pick up in the office five days after confiscated.
    • 2nd offense:  (Cell phone)  – pick up by a parent in the office at the end of the day with documented referral.  (Headphones/Earbuds). Pick up in the office ten days after confiscated.
    • 3rd and subsequent offenses:  (Cell phone) Parent/guardian must pick up the phone in the office at the end of five school days.  ISS will be assigned.  (Headphones/Earbuds) Parent/guardian must pick up at the end of the year.

Note: Students who refuse to forfeit their device will be automatically assigned up to a ten day placement in ISS.

Note: students who bring these items to school do so at their own discretion and are responsible for the security of those items. AISD is not responsible for these items should they be lost or stolen.

The consequences listed above are supported in the Texas Education Code, Chapter 37.082.

The use of cell phone or any device capable of capturing images is strictly prohibited in locker rooms or restroom areas while at school or at a school-related or school-sponsored event.

Confiscated telecommunications devices that are not retrieved by the student or the student’s parents will be disposed of after the notice required by law. [See policy FNCE.]

In limited circumstances and in accordance with law, a student’s personal telecommunications device may be searched by authorized personnel. [See Searches and policy FNF.]

Any disciplinary action will be in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. The district is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen telecommunications devices.

The respectful, non-disruptive use of cell phones is permitted in any area except those listed above. As soon as the threshold of the prohibited area is crossed during the school day, cell phones need to be put away and made undetectable (i.e., silenced without vibration).

All cell phone use must be respectful and non-disruptive to students and staff.
