Virtual Course Grading

Parents and students are responsible for monitoring progress, assignments, and grades directly through the Imagine Edgenuity platform. Because virtual courses operate within Edgenuity, current assignment status, pacing information, and course grades may not be reflected in Skyward on a daily basis.

Anna ISD will report virtual course grades in Skyward at the end of each three-week, six-week, and nine-week grading period. The grade entered into Skyward will be the student's Actual Grade as calculated by Imagine Edgenuity at the time of the reporting period.

The Actual Grade is the official grade of record for Anna ISD virtual courses. This grade reflects both academic performance and course pacing.

The Actual Grade:

• Includes completed and graded assignments and assessments.
• Adjusts for a student's progress toward the course completion target date when the student is behind pace.
• Does not automatically assign zeros for uncompleted work.
• Does not penalize students for submitted work that has not yet been graded.
• Will never be higher than the student's Overall Grade when a student is working ahead of schedule.

The Actual Grade uses a progress ratio that compares a student's actual course progress to the expected course progress based on the assigned start date and target completion date.
 

Progress Ratio = Actual Progress ÷ Target Progress
Actual Grade = Overall Grade × Progress Ratio

Example
If a student has an Overall Grade of 90 and has completed 40% of the course but should have completed 50% of the course based on the pacing schedule:

Progress Ratio = 40 ÷ 50 = 0.80

Actual Grade = 90 × 0.80 = 72

In this example, the student's Actual Grade would be 72 because the student is behind the expected pace of the course.
 

• A student's course must have both a start date and target completion date assigned in order for an Actual Grade to be calculated.
• An "N/A" displayed for the Actual Grade indicates that the required dates have not been established or that the student has just been enrolled in the course.
• The Actual Grade is used to communicate both academic performance and progress toward course completion.
• For UIL eligibility, academic standing, report cards, promotion, and other official reporting purposes, Anna ISD will use the Actual Grade reported from Imagine Edgenuity at each grading period.
