Behavior Support Services

Anna ISD is committed to helping every student succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We recognize that some students need additional support in learning how to manage their behavior, build positive relationships, and make responsible choices. To meet these needs, our district offers a continuum of behavior supports that are proactive, restorative, and growth-oriented.

At the foundation of this work are schoolwide systems and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which establish clear expectations for all students and reinforce them consistently across classrooms and campuses. Teachers use proactive strategies, positive reinforcement systems, and social-emotional learning lessons to help students learn expectations and build strong behavior skills.

When students require additional intervention, the RISE (Responsive Instruction for Success in Education) classroom provides an in-school suspension setting that balances comparable academic instruction with structured behavioral supports. \

Our Behavior Support Team plays a critical role in guiding this work by coaching teachers, modeling classroom management strategies, and providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions for students with ongoing behavioral needs. Just as important, Anna ISD partners closely with families, administrators, counselors, and staff to ensure that behavior supports are consistent, equitable, and focused on long-term student growth.

Together, these schoolwide systems and targeted supports ensure that students receive not only the academic tools to succeed in school, but also the behavioral and social skills they need to thrive in life.

Responsive Instruction for Supports in Education (RISE) Classrooms

The Responsive Instruction for Success in Education (RISE) classroom is our in-school suspension program, designed to provide both academic support and opportunities for personal growth. RISE is available for students across all grade levels and serves as a structured, restorative space where they can reflect on their choices, continue their schoolwork, and practice positive behaviors before returning to the regular classroom.

Students assigned to the RISE classroom follow a structured daily schedule that balances academic responsibilities with behavioral supports. They complete class assignments so they remain on track with their peers, while also engaging in reflection activities, restorative practices, and social skills lessons. These activities help students understand the impact of their actions and develop strategies to make better choices in the future. To monitor progress, students use a daily point sheet where they earn points for demonstrating expected behaviors.

The RISE classroom environment is calm and supportive, but intentionally structured to encourage students to work toward rejoining their peers in the general education setting. Administrators and staff monitor progress closely, checking in daily and keeping families informed throughout the placement. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that when students return to their classrooms, they are better prepared—academically, socially, and emotionally—to succeed.
