Special Education Continuum of Services
Anna ISD is dedicated to providing a comprehensive continuum of services to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Our programs are designed to offer individualized support, ranging from inclusive practices within the general education setting to specialized self-contained environments and transition services.
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
Anna ISD offers a range of programs for eligible students with disabilities aged 3-4 years. These services constitute a continuum designed to address varying levels of need, from moderate communication deficits to severe developmental disabilities. ECSE programs include:
· Walk-In Speech Therapy: Targeted support for communication needs.
· Integrated Pre-K: Inclusive learning environment within a general education Pre-K setting.
· Self-Contained ECSE Class: A specialized classroom environment for students requiring more intensive support.
Inclusion
Students receiving Inclusion services are instructed within the general education classroom alongside their non-disabled peers. Special education staff provide support directly within this setting to facilitate access to the general education curriculum and address IEP goals.

Related Services are integral to a student's special education program, provided to eligible students to help them benefit from their specially designed instruction and facilitate the mastery of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. These services may include:

· Occupational Therapy
· Physical Therapy
· Adapted Physical Education (APE)
· Counseling
· Assistive Technology
· Audiological Services
· Vision Services

Content Mastery
Available exclusively at Anna High School, Content Mastery provides students with intermittent support for their general education classwork. Students can visit a dedicated Content Mastery classroom to receive assistance with assignments, clarify concepts, and reinforce learning.
Resource
Students in the Resource setting receive moderately modified academic curriculum, instruction, and assessment in a small group environment. Instruction in Resource prioritizes essential Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and individualized IEP goals. Students access general education curriculum resources with adjustments to scope and sequence, pacing guides, and supplemental materials. Typically, students in Resource are two to three grade levels behind their peers. Students may receive instruction in reading, writing, and/or mathematics in this setting, often in combination with Inclusion services.
Functional Academics (FA)
Functional Academics (FA) is designed for students who are typically more than three grade levels behind their peers and require a highly modified, alternate academic curriculum. Instruction occurs in a small group setting, focusing on the TEKS essence statements, access to essential grade-level TEKS, and IEP goals with short-term objectives. Students placed in FA must receive instruction in all four core academic subjects within this setting. The primary curriculum resource utilized is Attainment.
Life Skills
The Life Skills program serves students with severe cognitive disabilities. Instruction in this self-contained setting focuses on functional academics, the development of independent living skills, and individualized IEP goals with short-term objectives. The primary curriculum resource for the Life Skills program is TeachTown.
Social Communication (SOCO)
The Social Communication (SOCO) program is specifically designed for students with Autism or similar conditions who exhibit severe needs related to behavior, social skills, and communication. Students may be fully self-contained within the SOCO program or partially placed in SOCO and other educational settings as their behavior allows. The program emphasizes the use of research-supported strategies effective for students with Autism. The primary curriculum resource utilized is STAR Autism Support.
Zone
The Zone class is a specialized program for students with an Emotional Disability and/or Other Health Impairment who have severe needs related to behavior, emotional regulation, and coping skills. Students can be self-contained in the Zone program or partially placed in Zone and other settings based on individual student behavior and needs. The program focuses on strategies known to support students with emotional and behavioral needs, with a strong emphasis on positive behavior interventions and supports. Primary curriculum resources include Boys Town and Zones of Regulation.
18+ Class
The 18+ Class provides specially designed instruction for students aged 18-22. This program focuses on preparing students for successful post-secondary life by addressing functional academics, community involvement, career readiness, everyday living skills, self-determination, and social skills. Students regularly participate in facilitated employment situations both within the school district and throughout the Anna community.
Homebound
Homebound services are provided to students who are expected to be confined to their home or a hospital for a minimum of four weeks in a school year due to a medical condition. Homebound services are available for eligible students with an existing IEP or 504 plan, or those who qualify through the district's evaluation process. Eligibility requires specific forms completed by the student’s physician.
