Mental Health Program

Anna ISD Mental Health Supports

Our school district is committed to the mental well-being and academic success of every student. We recognize that mental health is integral to overall success in school and life. Our Comprehensive Counseling Program uses a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to ensure that all students receive the appropriate level of support to help them be successful.

Tier 1: Universal Support for All Students

At the foundational level, Tier 1 services are provided to all students across the district. These universal supports focus on promoting a positive school climate, fostering social-emotional learning (SEL), and building resilience. Our district implements evidence-based SEL curricula in every classroom, provides regular mental health awareness activities, and trains staff in trauma-informed practices. This tier aims to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.

Tier 2: Targeted Support for Students with Additional Needs

For students who may require more focused support, Tier 2 interventions are available. These services are designed for students identified through screening or referral as needing additional help beyond the universal support. Interventions at this level may include small group counseling, targeted SEL instruction, mentoring, and short-term check-in sessions.

Tier 3: Intensive Support for Students with Significant Needs

At the highest level, Tier 3 provides individualized and intensive mental health support for students in crisis or whose mental health significantly impacts their daily life. Every campus is staffed with at least one licensed professional counselor or clinical social worker who can provide crisis intervention, one-on-one therapy for up to ten sessions, collaborate with external mental health agencies when necessary, and provide referrals for ongoing outside care.
