Mental Health Program
Anna ISD Mental Health Supports
Our school district is committed to the mental well-being and academic success of every student. We recognize that mental health is integral to overall success in school and life. Our Comprehensive Counseling Program uses a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to ensure that all students receive the appropriate level of support to help them be successful.
If you believe that your student is in need of additional support, please reach out to your campus administrator or school counselor.
Social-Emotional Learning
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults develop and apply the knowledge and skills to understand and manage emotions, achieve goals, show empathy for others, build positive relationships, and exercise good judgment. SEL supports both academic success and personal well-being.
Elementary
Anna ISD elementary campuses use the Second Step Curriculum. This curriculum teaches students important life skills through fun lessons and activities. With weekly themes covered in daily 15-minute lessons, students learn how to handle challenges, resolve conflicts, and treat others with kindness and respect.
Learn more at the Second Step website.
Secondary
Middle and high school campuses utilize the Compass Curriculum from Navigate 360 each Monday during Coyote Time. It is a comprehensive, digital SEL program that is aligned with the five CASEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Each year, students start the year by taking the Social Emotional Competency Assessment (SECA), which is used to gauge student strengths and growth areas in SEL competencies, guide instruction and interventions, and monitor progress over time.
