Emergency/School Closing Procedures

The district may close schools for a partial or full-day because of bad weather or emergency conditions.

To ensure you receive emergency notifications from the district, please ensure your contact information is correct in Ascender Parent Portal (our student database). The correct contact information must be in the correct fields for our mass communication system to work properly. This includes each parent’s correct primary phone number, cell phone number, and email address.

School Closure FAQs

How will the district communicate partial or full-day closure?

We will notify families and staff of a late start, early release, or full-day closure through our mass communication system. This will include a phone call, text, and/or email.

To ensure you receive emergency notifications from the district, please update your contact information (including correct primary phone number, cell phone number, and email address) in Ascender Parent Portal.

In addition to the emergency notifications, we will update the Anna ISD website and Facebook page.
Television network updates are typically last (because there is often a lag time between when we send the information to them and when it is posted).

When is the decision to delay or close school made?

During bad weather, we make every attempt to assess the road conditions and notify staff and students as early as possible. Every effort is made to assess the road conditions and make a final decision by 5:30 a.m. Although, there have been cases where the weather worsened during the morning hours and a decision was made slightly later than the 5:30 goal.

What does "delayed start" mean?

A delayed start will begin 2 hours after normal campus start times. Buses will run 2 hours later than normal route times.
