Frequently Asked Questions

1. Verify Residency & Eligibility

   • Your child must live within Anna ISD boundaries.

   • For kindergarten, the child must be 5 years old on or before September 1; for 1st grade, 6 years old on or before September

2. Gather Required Documents

   • Certified birth certificate

   • Optional Social Security card

   • Current immunization records

   • Proof of residency, such as a utility bill or lease/mortgage agreement in the guardian’s name

   • Driver’s license of the enrolling parent/guardian

   • If transferring from another district, include withdrawal papers as applicable

3. Create a Parent Portal Account & Submit Enrollment

   • Sign up for the Ascender Parent Portal, which is required for enrollment and ongoing school management

   • Use the portal to complete and submit the online new student enrollment form.

4. Follow Up with Campus Registrar

   • After completing the online portion, reach out to your child’s campus registrar if you need help or if documents must be submitted in person.

Attendance/Absences - Anna Independent School District

Parents must report a student’s absence using the Report an Absence Form, which replaces phone calls or emails to the attendance clerk. This electronic submission serves as the required signed parent note, and the campus attendance clerk/registrar is automatically notified by email upon submission.

Pre-pay for meals online via MySchoolBucks (credit/debit or bank transfer), by check (payable to “Anna ISD Child Nutrition”), or with cash at school. Balances roll over yearly; refunds are available by request.

In urgent situations, you may contact the school office to leave a message for your child. Students do not have access to active cell phones during the school day; all communication must be coordinated through school staff.

Family lunches are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Parents may sit with their child at the designated family table (no friends or other students permitted). Outside food is allowed, or you may purchase from the cafeteria. Please leave about 5 minutes before lunch ends to support classroom routines.

Food delivery/drop off is not allowed by delivery apps (Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.)

To find out what book(s) your student currently has checked out, or to see their historical library circulation data, go to: https://destinyverification.follettsoftware.com/willow/district/destiny-NVFH-XV99. You must use the email address currently registered with the District.
