This is the image for the news article titled Camp Write AlongRattan's 4th graders just completed their annual Camp Write Along. Our 4th grade classrooms were transformed into camp grounds and students worked on improving their writing skills with daily practice, encouragement and motivation inside tents, sleeping bags and beside “campfires”.

We began each day with a morning meeting where we had three very special guests: Gayle Lewis our school counselor, Greta Adams our district librarian, and Anna ISD Police Department’s Chief White. Each guest brought a fun and creative way to motivate students to do their best and “turn their can’ts into cans and their dreams into plans." This year’s main focus was encouraging the students to write with more specific and descriptive details and to use "Golden Bricks." Chief White explained to the students why writing more descriptive is important in his career. Mrs. Adams motivated the students to follow in the footsteps of many famous authors and to never give up. Ms. Lewis taught us a silly, catchy song to keep us pumped up for writing.

At the end of each camp day, students were presented with fun awards for their hard work. The Camp Write Along week always leaves an everlasting memory with the students and teachers and this year was no different. We enjoyed watching the students grow into better writers.
